- Legal Instrument(s) to be executed: Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), followed by a detailed ‘Corporate Farming Agreement’.
- The Model provides for the engagement of the ‘Interested Entity’ as a contractor, on a Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis, for twenty (20) years, extendable for an additional period of ten (10) years.
- At the time of execution of the ‘Corporate Farming Agreement’ the ‘Interested Entity’ shall submit a performance security deposit, in the form of a pay order, in favor of GCI as a guarantee towards discharge of its obligations.
- Under the Model, GCI will grant the ‘Interested Entity’ the right to use the designated land for the execution of the project thereupon. In lieu thereof, the ‘Interested Entity’ shall pay GCI an annual rental.
- Based on the condition of the designated land, a grace period of up to three (03) years is to be granted, following which the ‘Interested Entity’ shall commence payment of the annual rental.
- The use of flood irrigation shall be prohibited. As such, during the grace period, the ‘Interested Entity’ shall be responsible for installing and implementing the high-efficiency irrigation system(s).
- Interested Entity to prepare and submit a detailed project execution plan, based on technical and financial feasibility studies and surveys.
- The project under this Model is under the oversight and monitoring control of a ‘project steering committee’ comprising nominees of GCI and the ‘Interested Entity’.
